ELT Core Principles

Effective Leadership is the ability to influence others in a healthy, productive direction, without regard for power, position or control.

Effective Management is the ability to efficiently lead, direct and utilize resources toward accomplishing goals and objectives, which are consistent with the organization’s Mission and Vision.

Effective Influencers operate from a transformational perspective, actively pursue personal growth and want others to succeed.

Effective Leaders are open to the influence of others.

Leadership is influence. Everyone has the capacity to be an effective influencer. Effective leaders influence superiors, subordinates and their colleagues.

ELT Overview

Get all emerging leaders on the same page, one group at a time.

ELT is structured facilitated small-group training. Each cohort typically includes 8-10 people from different parts of your organization.

Participants learn, explore and practice the core principles of transformational leadership. Our distributed-power leadership model challenges employees to be their best and help others shine through mutual understanding, respect and influence.

Within each cohort, people with different roles and functions learn from each other while influencing others in their daily work by modeling a unified leadership approach.

Point-C schedules ELT sessions so each cohort can complete ELT 1 and ELT 2 within nine months of starting the program.

Graduates are eligible to participate in Point-C’s ELT 3 Community and its resources.

ELT 1: Foundational Leadership Principles
13 Weeks

ELT 1 introduces five core leadership concepts, including principles of influence, applying Vision and Mission, and adopting a continuous quality improvement mindset.

Training Details
Weekly training session with cohort group of 8-10 participants (13 consecutive weeks)

  • 1-1/2 hours facilitated via online platform
  • Review previous session highlights
  • Debrief between-session activities
  • New material: introduction and discussion
  • Challenge activities to complete prior to the next session

Weekly individual participant activities

  • Attend group training
  • Engage in one-to-one meeting with at least one cohort member
  • Personal leadership journaling
  • Practice leadership via challenge activities

Ongoing support

  • Training sessions recordings (confidential)
  • Materials and supplemental information
  • Coaching with facilitator(s) to address roadblocks that can’t wait for the next session

ELT 2: Establishing Constructive Relationships and Influence
13 Weeks

Building on the principles acquired in ELT 1, participants learn concrete skills for creating and sustaining mutually-engaged relationships, effective communication and conversation, and dealing constructively with conflict.

Weekly training session with the same ELT 1 cohort group (13 consecutive weeks)

  • Same as ELT 1, plus
  • Leadership Growth Journal

Weekly individual participant activities

  • Same as ELT 1, plus
  • Personal leadership journaling via the Leadership Group Journal

Ongoing support

  • Same as ELT 1, plus
  • One individual coaching session with facilitator to explore personal challenges related to applying the interpersonal leadership principles

Point-C supports the ELT 3 Community so Emerging Leaders Training I and 2 graduates can continue to grow and learn from others along their way.

All ELT 2 graduates receive one year of complimentary ELT 3 membership and all its benefits.
